What an amazing year for the companies we support and the ecosystem we’re building!

When we started over a dozen years ago, our idea was simple: make it cheaper and easier for scientific entrepreneurs to launch companies, and incredible things will happen. We created a fully-equipped lab where startups could rent just one bench, allowing them to gather data with minimal resources.

Skeptics predicted we’d become an “ICU for startups,” but nothing could be further from the truth. I’m thrilled to announce that two companies, starting with just one bench in our labs, struck billion-dollar deals this year. Huge congrats to John Mulcahy and the team at SiteOne Therapeutics, acquired by Lilly, and to Nenad Tomasevic and his crew at Dren, who sold an asset to Sanofi.

These success stories stand out, but we’re equally proud of the hundreds of other companies quietly doing amazing things. Spend time in our community rooms, and you’ll leave with optimism!

This was also a year of huge growth for us. In May, we opened our fifth MBC BioLabs campus, a new 100,000 sq ft site in San Carlos, already home to nearly 60 companies. This vibrant community benefits from the support of 57 partners who share our passion for helping these companies thrive.

We can’t wait to see the incredible achievements 2026 will bring.
