Call for Proposals

Astellas is pleased to invite applications for the Astellas Golden Ticket Program, an initiative designed to support entrepreneurs and early-stage biotech companies developing differentiated scientific approaches with the potential to address significant unmet medical needs and advance patient care.

Award winner(s) will receive a Golden Ticket award, including access to premier laboratory infrastructure at MBC BioLabs, as well as opportunities to engage with Astellas scientists, mentors, and business leaders.

Astellas’ R&D Strategy and Primary Focuses:

Astellas recently launched its Corporate Strategic Plan 2026 (CSP2026) to create and deliver greater VALUE faster for patients around the world. Astellas’ R&D strategy is guided by a Focus Area Approach which combines a deep understanding of disease biology, the use of innovative technology platforms, and versatile treatment modalities focused on new targets to tackle diseases with high unmet medical needs. This approach enables Astellas to focus its resources on four Primary Focuses where the company has strong, differentiated capabilities: Blindness and Regeneration, Genetic Regulation, Immuno-Oncology, and Induced Proximity.

Areas of interest for the Golden Ticket program include:

  • Next-generation therapeutics for high-unmet-need diseases, including immune-mediated disorders, cardio-renal diseases, and retinal/CNS conditions, with the potential to deliver disease-modifying outcomes and meaningful improvements over current standards of care.

  • AI-enabled drug discovery and development platforms that accelerate target identification, biomarker discovery, molecular design, and the creation of multispecific, next-generation proximity-inducing drugs, and other novel therapeutic modalities.

  • Integrated autonomous R&D technologies, combining AI, laboratory automation, and advanced data platforms to enable closed-loop experimentation, self-driving laboratories, and more efficient biologics discovery.

  • Innovative translational and precision medicine approaches, including novel screening tools, reverse translation strategies, biomarker-driven patient selection, and technologies that enable earlier and more confident clinical proof of concept.

  • Digital health and real-world monitoring solutions, including wearables, non-invasive sensors, and analytics platforms that generate actionable insights into disease progression, treatment response, and patient outcomes.

Applicants are requested to submit a non-confidential pitch deck that includes a company overview, scientific and technical rationale, supporting data, development plan and key milestones, team biographies, IP position, and alignment with Astellas’ strategic themes.

Selected finalists will be invited to present their technology and company vision to an Astellas judging panel. Additional presentation details will be provided upon notification.

The application due date for the Astellas Golden Ticket Program 2026 is October 23, 2026.
