Ambagon has an immediate opening for a Scientist, Cell Biology.  This role is an opportunity to join Bay area-based Ambagon as an early employee, bringing your scientific talent and passion to build the company.

The successful candidate will have an integral role in the planning and conduct of experiments that support Ambagon’s drug discovery efforts including, but not limited to:

  • Lead research to evaluate therapeutic hypotheses for candidate drug targets
  • Lead the screening of compounds for activity in cellular assays
  • Design and develop cell-based assays for compound evaluation and selectivity
  • Design and conduct experiments to assess drug candidate mechanism of action
  • Evaluate activity of drug candidates in translational models of cancer
  • Analyze, organize, interpret and present experimental data
  • Collaborate and interact with colleagues in design and conduct of experimental series
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date experimental records and prepare study reports
  • Train and /or supervise Research Associates, interns, and other laboratory personnel
  • Perform other duties as required

Scientist applicants should have the following qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in cancer biology, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or a related field
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ relevant post-doctoral research experience in the field of cancer research
  • Strong understanding of oncogenic pathways and experience in designing experiments to evaluate molecular interactions and pathways
  • Strong expertise in developing cancer cell functional assays is required
  • Experience with cell and molecular biology assay technologies including lentiviral transduction, CRISPR, shRNA, RNAi, FACS, ELISA, Western blotting, qRT-PCR, RNA-seq is desired
  • Excellent record keeping and organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and manage time efficiently
  • Flexibility within a fast-moving start up environment
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
