Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Genomic Scientist at Heritable Agriculture. The Senior Genomic Scientist, reporting to the company’s Chief Technology Officer, will be responsible for analyzing sequence data, conducting statistical analyses, and performing research to support the company’s mission of making plants programmable. The position requires an applicant skilled in genomics and bioinformatics, who is more comfortable writing code than performing lab or field work.
Qualifications
- PhD in a genomics-related field such as bioinformatics, computational biology, or plant/animal/human genetics
- Statistics and data analysis skills
- DNA and RNA sequence alignment and SNP calling expertise
- Research experience with modern methods in genomics
- Extensive experience utilizing bioinformatics tools
- Fluency with Python and/or R, and comfort with additional languages (This position is primarily computational)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work on-site in San Carlos, California
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with agricultural plant species
- Experience with AI technologies
- 3+ years of work experience since completing training
