Please join us for a Founders at Work Fire Side Chat featuring Siolta Therapeutics’ Founder and CEO, Nikole Kimes and Chief Scientific Officer, Ricardo Valladares.
Siolta leverages deep knowledge of the human microbiome to develop live biotherapeutic products (LBPs) and diagnostics for the prevention and treatment of a wide range of diseases including atopic diseases, women’s health, and rare pediatric indications for which limited or no treatment options exist.
Nikole Kimes, Ph.D. – Founder and CEO
Siolta Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotech company developing live biotherapeutic products (LBPs) that target the core drivers of disease of high unmet medical need. Siolta’s growing pipeline focuses on infant and women’s health to address chronic inflammatory conditions, such as IgE-mediated allergic diseases and infectious diseases. As co-founder and CEO, Dr. Nikole Kimes leads a talented and passionate team of researchers and clinicians with expertise in microbiology, immunology, bioinformatics, clinical operations, diagnostics, and manufacturing. An inventor of Siolta’s technology, her research in Dr. Susan Lynch’s lab at UCSF, also a co-founder of Siolta, provided the foundational research for the company’s formation.
In addition to her scientific and entrepreneurial pursuits at Siolta, Dr. Kimes is the chairman of the Microbiome Therapeutics Innovation Group (MTIG) board, a coalition of companies leading the research and development of FDA-approved microbiome therapeutics and microbiome-based products to address unmet medical needs, improve clinical outcomes, and reduce health care costs.
Ricardo Valladares, Ph.D. – CSO
As an NSF Graduate Research Fellow, Ricardo’s early research focused on identifying the molecular mediators underlying the action of probiotic bacteria. He later joined the laboratory of Dr. Susan Lynch at the University of California San Francisco as a NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Fellow investigating microbial community dynamics during allergy and asthma development. An inventor of Siolta’s technology, Ricardo is an exceptional microbiologist who brings industry knowledge to the team as the former Director of Research and Development at Medical Neurogenetics Laboratories. His experience with the Siolta technology platform, industry diagnostics, and live biotherapeutic development makes him well-suited to direct the company’s R&D program.
