Activate Planetary Health Green Ticket 2026

Activate is now accepting applications for the 2026 Activate Planetary Health Green Ticket. The selected early-stage company will win a lab bench and core subscription for 1 year at MBC BioLabs.

At Activate, we believe that groundbreaking science can improve lives and protect the planet—but only if it reaches the people and places that need it most. We help scientists and engineers turn hard tech breakthroughs into real-world companies through funding, training, and community—while building the ecosystem needed to scale these innovations into real-world solutions.

We’re inviting start-ups that are building at the intersection of hard-tech and biology in the following Activate Verticals:

  • Carbon Management: Developing tools for capture, utilization, storage, and verification of carbon and other radiative-forcing gases.
  • Earth Resources: Advancing technologies for sustainable extraction, energy, and management of Earth’s resources.
  • Climate Resilience & Adaptation: Developing better and longer-lasting alternatives, efficient substitutes, sustainable upgrades, and adaptations to a changing world.
  • Food & Agriculture: Improving yields, resilience, and sustainability across agriculture and food systems.
  • Industrial Biotechnology: Innovating industrial biotechnology through microbes, fermentation, enzymes, and bio-derived chemicals.
  • Water: Designing technologies to improve the quality, availability, and use of water.

To apply, please upload your non-confidential company presentation by June 18, 2026. In the application, please address the following:

  • What is the scientific insight and approach driving your company?
  • If successful, how would your approach meaningfully improve our climate, agricultural, or environmental ecosystems?
  • How would winning lab space at MBC BioLabs help your company?

Selected applicants will be invited to present their company to an expert panel at an event to be held on July 14th, 2026.

The winners will be announced at our Planetary Health Block Party to be held on July 16th at 733 Industrial Road.

Eligibility & Judging Criteria:

Activate Fellows and Alumni are welcome to apply; however, they will not receive preferential consideration.

Selection for this prize does not guarantee acceptance into any future Activate Fellowship programs.

Companies must operate in the life sciences sector, impact on planetary health, and require laboratory space for their work.

A panel of experts in their respective fields will review all submissions. The following criteria will form application judging criteria:

  • Fit relating to life sciences solutions to Activate’s verticals described above
  • Quality of scientific data, research plan, and/or technology platform
  • Readiness to move into the laboratory location within two to six months of being selected for the award
  • Potential to successfully achieve research milestones and program development
  • Impact of unmet need and fit to solution

Finalists will be notified: by July 2nd, 2026
Virtual Pitch Competition: July 14th, 2026
Winner Awarded at an in-person Planetary Health Block Party at MBC BioLabs 733 Industrial Rd., San Carlos
