Patrick (Paddy) O’Leary

Bridging 15 years of biomedical research with a long-standing passion for community building through sport and storytelling, Paddy leads company and community engagement at MBC BioLabs, helping early-stage biotech startups thrive in our collaborative, mission-driven environment. Previously, Paddy led cross-functional drug discovery efforts at UCSF, advancing targeted therapies for cancer and viral diseases. His work spanned from leading target engagement and cellular validation of novel viral and human macrodomain inhibitors, to uncovering resistance mechanisms in RAS/RAF and DDR pathway-mutant tumors. He has also managed multi-partner collaborations, CRO relationships, and data integration across academia and industry partners. Beyond the bench, he has extensive experience in partnership development, team management and communications – bringing a unique array of skills to the MBC BioLabs team. He led the CCMI Education & Outreach core at UCSF, built communities and event series across the Bay Area running scene, produced and directed documentary film projects, and competes as a professional mountain runner with The North Face and the Irish national running team.
